Psychological consultation
A defined piece of work to understand a situation, make sense of options or support professional decision-making.
The starting point
Consultation differs from open-ended therapy. It may focus on a particular question, performance context, relationship dynamic, team issue or communication challenge.
A clear brief
The work begins by agreeing the question, audience, boundaries and intended output. This might be a single consultation, a short series, a workshop or input within a wider programme.
For individuals and groups
Consultation may support athletes, performers, leaders, coaches, teams and organisations. Confidentiality and information-sharing arrangements are agreed explicitly where more than one party is involved.
Professional limits
Consultation is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, statutory assessment or emergency response. Where another discipline is required, EHG will say so.
