Support with anxiety
Understand the cycle of threat, worry and avoidance, then build a steadier way to respond.
The starting point
Anxiety can appear as constant worry, panic, physical tension, overthinking, reassurance-seeking or avoidance. It may be linked to a situation, a wider period of stress or a longer-standing pattern.
Making sense of the pattern
Therapy can help map triggers, body sensations, thoughts, coping responses and consequences. This creates a shared picture of what keeps the anxiety going and where change may be possible.
Possible areas of work
Depending on the person and formulation, work may include psychoeducation, graded behavioural change, CBT approaches, emotional regulation, mindfulness, communication and exploration of earlier experiences.
When another service is needed
Sudden or severe physical symptoms should be medically assessed. Specialist assessment may also be appropriate for some presentations. EHG will discuss referrals openly where its current service is not the right fit.
