Cognitive behavioural therapy
A structured way to understand links between situations, thoughts, emotions, physical responses and behaviour.
The starting point
CBT is a broad family of approaches rather than one fixed script. It often focuses on present-day patterns and tests practical changes collaboratively.
A shared formulation
Therapist and client develop an understandable map of the problem: what triggers it, what it means to the person and what responses may keep it going.
Active, manageable work
Sessions may include observation, behavioural experiments, skills practice and reflection between appointments. Any task should have a clear purpose and be agreed rather than imposed.
Integrated thoughtfully
Coach Dann’s work may draw on CBT alongside counselling, DBT-informed skills, motivational interviewing, mindfulness and psychodynamic thinking where this fits the person and the agreed goals.
